A-Line E.D.S. recycles 2 big transformers near the Tennessee River

Many companies are looking for a transformer removal service provider that has the facilities and permits to properly process and recycle their PCB oil filled electrical equipment. We’re proud that our PCB Commercial Storage facility has passed every audit by our customers and the EPA; however, the important aspect of the transformer removal process is how our on-site crews handle the transformer material and take amazing care when on our customer’s property.

This project showcases one of many that we have completed near a major waterway, always ensuring the cleanliness and environmental safety of the site.

The removal of these transformers took place adjacent to the Tennessee River and was expedited as replacement transformers were being moved on to the pad for staging in preparation for installation.

Our crew of 5 removed over 850,000 lbs of transformers in 6 days, all while maintaining a clean and safe site.

Here are the transformers staged for removal

Once the transformer tanks were prepped for opening the crane was brought in to remove the top tank sections exposing the core for removal.

A-Line takes all precautionary measures to ensure that no residual transformer oil is leaked onto the ground during the transformer dismantling process. You would think he lost a bet, but Jeff likes taking these pictures to showcase just how large these coils are.  He’s now debuted in 2 of our blogs!

Once the windings are removed the remaining transformer materials are downsized and loaded out for further recycling.

We encourage our customers to visit the jobsite and witness a transformer teardown firsthand.  It’s an eye opening experience that often showcases the high level of skill and careful attention that these projects require.
